Some good ideas for those of us trying to get in a creative space…
Thanksgiving Writing Prompt
Okay, the turkey’s eaten (at least in Canada it is) and we all have a day to recover from the food and festivities. Hopefully after all the clearing up is done, you’ll have a little time for yourself today, and hopefully that means a little time to write.
The writing prompt for today is about Thanksgiving. I want you to write a list of things that a CHARACTER is grateful for in his or her life. Once the character has written this list, I want the character to describe something he or she deeply regrets. Getting to know our characters makes the stories we want to write much, much easier and more fun!
A Tiny Time Out
I know, I know, we’re all busy right. Busy this, busy that. Well, I think it’s time to STOP for a moment and take a look around. I just spent five minutes lying on the picnic blanket looking up at the autumn leaves and the blue of the sky above. (Then someone started yelling and a diaper needed changing and the phone rang etc)… In five minutes, I think you can give your imagination a little time to refresh and breathe. See if you can make five minutes today to lie back and dream, then, even better, give yourself five minutes more to make some notes and do some writing based on your tiny time out.
